Since 1994, the General Assembly of Regnum Mariae and the Central Council, at the request of the Servites present in the Philippines, began to reflect on the need to make a trip to the Philippines, where a group of women were interested in knowing more about the Institute and after having already received from the Servants of Mary, initial information on the Institute's spirituality.
The decision was considered at length until, from 27 December 1996 to 7 January 1997, three Italian sisters, officially sent by the Council, went to Manila. With the collaboration of the friars themselves, they met the first people interested in learning about our Institute, and they were, in this way, inserted in the socio-cultural and religious Filipino background. The presence of Regnum Mariae in this country, however, is to be traced back officially to 23 July 1997, when the Central Council welcomed an application for entry of 10 sisters of Manila, and the formation process of these first sisters began. On January 4, 2004, six of them made the first profession of the evangelical counsels |
The interest in the knowledge of the Institute slowly began to grow and spread to the Island of Leyte. On January 30, 2005, the Central Council welcomed the application of the first four sisters of Baybay. On July 8, 2009, the Central Council officially constituted the Group of Manila.
Currently, in the Philippines, there is the group of Manila composed of sisters with definite incorporation, temporary incorporation, and some in formation, while in Baybay there is a sister with definite incorporation. |
